Second application passed, minor amendments submitted

Writer's picture: The SunrayThe Sunray

After a long frustrating process and the continued help and support from the village, our application for the second phase of the Sunray project was granted permission today. This now means we can push ahead with bringing the Sunray back to life.

Since the original applications have been submitted we have realised there are some minor changes we would like to make to what was originally submitted. you will see these in the coming weeks. Don’t panic, they are only minor and we’re sure most of you will agree are for the betterment of the overall scheme.

We were never truly happy with the extension to the front facade that was done before our ownership. Although our original plans improved on this by removing the sloping elements of the roof and adding the floor to ceiling windows, we were always taken by the historic photo of the original main elevation and terrace which some of you may have seen.

We plan to remove the unsightly extension and recreate something more in keeping with this original facade. This will also help the inside feel more cosy during winter months.

The other minor alteration we wish to make to the approved holiday accommodation is to scale back the single storey one bedroom units. This will see a reduced footprint and allow for the retention of the original stone walls and they will be visually more in keeping with the original agricultural use of the site.

We will post a copy of these updated plans on our website and hopefully be welcoming you all into The Sunray as soon as possible.
